ABOUT

Since beginning his professional career in 2003, Chris Casillas, owner of Casillas ADR Services, has developed an extensive and diverse background in labor relations as a labor attorney, neutral, and academic. Following his graduation from Seattle University School of Law (magna cum laude), Chris entered private practice as a labor-side attorney where he represented various clients across Washington State for more than a decade. His worked ranged from litigating dozens of different unfair labor practice and arbitration (both grievance and interest) cases and negotiating over 100 different collective bargaining agreements. 

During a sabbatical from private practice, Chris attended Cornell University where he earned an M.A. in 2009 and a Ph.D. in 2012 in Government, including completing coursework at the distinguished Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Following his graduation and return to private practice, Chris became a member of the adjunct faculty at Seattle University School of Law in 2013 as well as the University of Washington School of Law, beginning in 2019. At both institutions Chris teaches a variety of courses on private and public sector labor law, negotiation theory and practice, arbitration law, and constitutional law.

In 2018 Chris began his career as a neutral  in the labor relations field after joining the Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC). Through his work at PERC Chris has developed extensive experience as an administrative law judge, mediator, and trainer across dozens of cases each year. During his tenure at PERC Chris co-founded the PERC Negotiation Project, an innovative conflict resolution training program designed to link the latest academic research and findings in the field of negotiations with the experience and expertise of practitioners in an effort to enhance conflict resolution skills.
